Question:
Now that Iam post op, Iam thinking about switching to my old insurance
I went through BTC in Ypsilanti Mich and my current insurance is BC/BS of Mich. When I switched to this insurance for the surgery my whole family had to switch as well. With BC/BS traditional you have to pay for office visits so between my office visits and doctors visits for the kids and my husband it's been very expensive! I want to switch back to my old insurance (Care Choices HMO), but Iam a little concerned because I still have to go for one more postop visit and bloodwork every three months until January. I heard somewhere that BCBS covers the postop visits upfront? Is this true? Iam eligible to switch insurances again in September. Thanks! — Kris T. (posted on April 23, 2003)

Another thing to consider is that you just put a financial burden on an
insurance company who isn't going to be able to reimburse itself through
your continued business with them. We all have to do what is right for
ourselves, but you should realize that when anyone does this it makes it
even harder for those who follow you to get coverage for this procedure.
When they lose money on a procedure being covered they increase costs to
employers who are then more & more likely to not choose employee
insurance which will cover this or second the insurance company will quit
covering it all together - both financial business decisions that affect
many others who will follow you.
