Hi Sara -- this is hard to answer without knowing how far out you are, and
what kind of surgery you had -- I couldn't figure it out from your profile
or surgery comments, either. If you add that information, it will help
people give you better answers about what they did! :-)

Sara, you didn't mention how far post-op you were, so I can't really help
you with the calories as it changes month to month sometimes. I'm almost a
year out and get 1200 calories. But a few months out should be probably
600. I never even counted calories until 6 months out when I could eat
more, my nutritionist and surgeon said I didn't need to. Protein needs to
be atleast 60 grams a day, but the higher the better. Many get 80-100 a
day. And carbs really varies person to person. Some don't allow any, some
people are more leniant. You should always eat the protein first, and then
have carbs. My rule of thumb is to never go over 20 grams of carbs per
meal, some may do less or more. Goodluck to you!

I have no idea how far out you are but I can tell you what works for me. I
eat 600-800 calories per day and average 80 grams of protein per day and 35
or less carbs per day. Also i drink as much as possible. I track everything
I eat on fitday.com and I lose 3-4 pounds a week at 3 months out. I am down
60 pounds since surgery on 1/15/03. Lap RNY 266/206/147

I too track my progress on fitday.com. I find that the less carbs I eat
(especially flour, starches, sugar) and the more protein, the better off I
am. Fruits and veggies are okay, of course. I do not count my calories, yet
the fitday website does it and it looks like I eat anywhere from 800-1200
calories a day. I basically follow the Atkins diet...you can find at
www.atkins.com and you will find many post-ops do very well with it. I hope
this helps you.
