Question:
I was wondering about non-dairy creamers?
I used to used them on top of my hot breakfast cereals. It made them more creamy and tasty. Does anyone else do this since they has WLS? Thanks, Cheryl A. — cherby56 (posted on April 2, 2003)

Hey there! I personally use non dairy creamer in my decaf coffee and
sometimes on cereal. It is sugar free and fat free so in my opinion I
think it's great.

Why would you use this?? It is just water and corn syrup and sugar
basically... Use some skim milk and get some protein in if you want to
make it creamier...JR

Unless they make a specifically sugar-free non-dairy creamer, it is not
sugar-free. I got my info from the Coffee-Mate site
(http://www.coffee-mate.com) The fat-free original Coffee-Mate is 10
calories - all from carbs (and apparently all sugar/corn syrup) - per
tablespoon...JR

Hi, I'm really lactose intolerant and have been using Silk Soy Milk
(Vanilla) in my cereal, coffee, straight - It tastes SO good!! I love
making strawberry milk by using SF Strawberry syrup and the silk. It's
great with my cereals too!! Try that, there's more protein and less sugar
in it! Silk even makes a creamer if you want a really rich tasting
"milk." Enjoy!

I am with John on this one. Non-dairy creamers have no nutritional value
and are full of hydrogenated compounds that aren't good for you. I have
become a big consumer of non-fat dry milk. I use Sanalac because it is
fine-milled--not flakes like the Carnation. Also I just make my oatmeal
with milk instead of water and it does taste creamier. If you're lactose
intolerant I could see using the creamer but really you need some protein
with every meal anyway you might as well kill two birds with one stone.
BTW, I also have become accustomed to using NF dry milk in my coffee. I use
instant espresso powder, dry milk, and a little half and half and it makes
a really tasty drink with some protein in it!

I use the powdered non-dairy creamer if I am having coffee at work, and at
home I use the liquid lite non-dairy creamers. I've used both of these
since about 2 months post-op.
