Question:
6 DAYS POST OP AND FEELING BLOATED?
I was just wondering if its normal to feel so full and bloated? I am following my liquid food plan and trying to get everything in but I stop when I am uncomfortable. How do I know if this full or bloated feeling is still the gas from surgery or my new tummy talking to me? I am also trying to make sure I take the 30 minutes to get things in. Not always managing, but trying to. — cherby56 (posted on April 1, 2003)

Hi. I am four weeks post-op and I often feel full (sometimes bloated),
even when I haven't eaten for several hours. It is probably a combination
of things, but the answer I got when I asked a question similar to this is
"enjoy not being hungry because that will change!"

I am 4 weeks post-op, and I too felt really bloated. I asked the nurse
about it when I got my drain out, and she said it is from the gas I
received during surgery (lap), plus swelling and fluids. I don't feel that
way anymore. Good luck!

Walk, walk, walk, walk, drink, drink, drink, and you'll probably flush away
the bloat... walking and drinking will make you feel better- its probably a
combination of everything. Don't over-exert, but moving around will help,
as well as MORE fluids.

Yes, it's normal to feel bloated, I did until about 4-5 weeks post-op. I
do agree that walking really helps. Drink, drink, drink too! It will go
away and you will start feeling better. I'm 4 1/2 months post-op and feel
great now. I was worried in the beginning about not getting all my fluids
in, but be assured that as time goes by, it will get easier to get it all
in.
