Question:
I'm 8 weeks post-op and having trouble getting liquids and food to stay down.
I've had a motility test down and 2 contrast swallow tests. I go tomorrow for a consult with my GI Dr. After reading Q&A's on this site I'm wondering if my problem is similar to others. It's very discouraging when you are following all the rules and you can't keep water/protein/food down. I worry about vitamin depletion & now depression. Can anyone offer advice to me? JF — Joy F. Sounds like you may have a stricture. I had one and took care of it last
week with an endoscopy. It's actually no big deal. Takes just a few
minutes to correct. They give you a little sleepy water (actually they
sprayed something on my tongue), and I "woke up" about 15 minutes
later, and it was all clear. No problems since then with my liquids,
pills, and food. My doc said that the stricture could reoccur, even
several times. But, now that I've been scoped, and realize it's no big
deal to rectify, I won't let it go so long next time. (Many, many weeks of
intense vomiting). Good luck.
