Question:
Could someone list the blood tests we should be having? Which 'levels' are to be checked?
I just had my 6 month check up and am annoyed (and concerned) that noone checked my "levels" (or anything else). I found a PCP who I will see next week and I want him to keep an eye on me. I called around trying to find a PCP who was WLS familiar, but had no real luck so I feel like I have to tell him what to do. What exactly are the levels he should be checking? Anything else he should be watching? (I had lap rny and am down 118 pounds.) — karmiausnic (posted on March 15, 2003)

Congratulations on such great weight loss! Your surgeon should be checking
bloodwork on you. At about 1 month, my surgeon wanted Chemistries (Sodium,
Potassium, etc.) a Complete Blood Count to check for anemia, a folate level
and a B12 level. I think there is no standard interval for checking labs,
each office and each patient are different, but I would think at six
months, SOMETHING should have been checked. Did you ask?
