Question:
Has anyone been approved through UHC Select EPO?
I'm looking for feedback onanyone that might have been approved through United Health Care Select EPO. I am currently waiting for approval from the insurance company and it seems to be taking forever. Is this a sign that I am going to be denied? — Kristin D. (posted on February 24, 2003)

I was approved for WLS through United Healthcare-Select EPO with no
problems. I was approved the day they received my WLS surgeons letter and I
was pre approved from my letter and my PCP's letter. The reconstructive
surgery I am requiring now,is another story. I am going through an
insurance battle. This is my first denial for abdominoplasty and
brachioplasty. I recommend after WLS that anytime you have a rash,
infection or back problems because of skin please go to the doctor to
document it and get it treated and take photos as that will assist you in
any reconstructive surgeries getting approved later on after you have lost
all of the weight. Good Luck.

I was approved for the rny with no problem also. Happened
in just a few days. Like Teena I am battling for the plastics. I'm waiting
on my appeal to see how Teena's approach works:) Good luck to you!

It all depends on your policy. There are thousands of select EPO policies,
each one different from the next. UHC is pretty good at approving this
surgery, but only if it is allowed by your policy. And the policy, in most
cases is written by your employer.
