Question:
ITS ME AGAIN ABOUT THE ABDOMINAL PAIN. THANK YOU FOR THE INPUT, UNFORTUNATELY ,
IT DOESNT HELP MUCH. THIS IS DEFINATELY A DEEP ABDOMINAL PAIN, NOT MUSCLES STILL HEALING. THIS SEEMS TO BE KIND OF COMMON FROM THE RESPONSES POSTED. IS THERE ANYONE ELSE WITH ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS ABDOMINAL PAIN UNDER THE RIBS AND THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE ABDOMEN? DEFINATELY NOT GALLBLADDER. — christina K. (posted on February 19, 2003)

I'll be watching the posts for this question as I have it too. My doctors
don't know what is going on.

I'm not sure this helps, but I have found I get severe pain in the ab, and
center of the back when I get gas in my pouch, or haven't went to the
bathroom for atleast 2 days. I can normally use a heating pad on the back
to help the pain, it gets really severe. It has been so bad I thought I was
going to have to go to the emergency room. For me normally with in a couple
of hours I will either start passing gas, or go to the bathroom and the
pain will go away. I'm not sure this is what your looking for, but thought
I would add it anyway. Good Luck!

I tend to get that pain if I have too much air in my system. So far if I
can make myself burp or pass gas then it relieves the pain considerably. A
definite pitfall to surgery since I never really had a problem with air
build-up before, but a minor inconvenience I suppose! I hope that you find
a resolution soon, take care. -Sarah

I didn't read your previous questions or responses, but could it be an
ulcer? And how bad is the pain? I had excrucating pain, under my ribs and
in my tummy, it also almost felt like I was having a heart attack. Turned
out I had a perforation in my pouch, but it was caused or in connection
with a marginal ulcer I never knew I had. It's hard to know if you have an
ulcer though sometimes, had many tests done before the CAT scan and they
said everything was fine. Goodluck, hope you find some relief, stomach pain
is horrible!

Add me to your list when you have an answer. I have been off work for a
month now because of pain in my right side when I sit or stand. Nothing
showed on 2 CT's--they suspected a hernia. It is much better after a month
of zero activity and muscle relaxers, but I am still not back to a normal
full schedule. After 3 hours on my feet, I start getting very
uncomfortable. I am 6 months post op and had been feeling great. Did you
lift anything that might have pulled a muscle?

What about muscle spasms, myofascial pain, active trigger points? Just
because you have pain in your abdomen, doesn't mean that's where the
problem is. I was diagnosed with muscle spasms in my gluteus minimus /
medius, piraformis muscle, and rectus abdominus muscle that's causing
severe low back and some abdominal pain. The terrible pain started 3 weeks
after my RNY last april and was not diagnosed until the end of October.
Good luck and God Bless!

I had the exact pain you are describing. My surgeon said that I pulled a
muscle...But I didnt overlift I told him. He responded that by twisting,
stretching or bending the wrong way especially the muscles that were cut
on, they are easy to 'pull' and hurt like hell. Mine hurt really bad until
I finally called him back a week and a half later and told him I would go a
head and take the pain meds he offered. Oh what a relief. He told me to
ease out of a seated position watch bending and twisting when getting out
of bed...and take it easy for a few weeks. That was about a month ago and
I am pain free. I may be wrong of course, but it sure sounds the same.
Hope you feel better soon.
