Question:
Is high cholesterol considered a co-morbidity?

Yes! My cholesterol was 368 before my open RNY. My surgery was 13 months
ago and my cholesterol is now 125. That was the only true co-morbidity I
had. My other weight related health problem is arthritis in my knees and
hips.

My insurance says YES, but only if it is doccumented by lab tests over a
period of time and is uncontrolled by diet and meds.

Most definitely. I was surprised how highly it was ranked.

Hypercholesterolemia is a co-morbidity. Mine was borderline, but I had a
family history of it which helped my case.
