How long since it was originally installed? Your profile is blank. Our
support group has a couple banfders revised to the RNY. Have you checkeked
the banders yahoo group? Sadly this can occur.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but LOTS of people have trouble
with the lap band. That is why alot of them get a revison to the RNY. I
hope everything works out for you and know that you will be in my prayers.
God Bless.

There is also a support group for lapbanders at spotlighthealth.com, click
on morbid obesity, then support groups to find it. They may have some
answers for you.

I know 2 women who were in the original FDA trials for the lapband, and
both had problems with the band shifting, requiring additional surgeries.
Unfortuantely, with any type of band, this can happen. But, both were
successfully revised to an RNY. Good luck.

Please dont forget that there are other surgical choices as well, not just
the RNY. There is the BPD (Biliopancreatic Diversion)which is similar to
the RNY but you keep your natural stomach opening. A pouch is then made of
your stomach and it is combined with the intestinal malabsorptive
component.
And there also the DS (Duodenal Switch) which you keep your normal
functioning stomach but it is made into an approx. 6-8 oz. pouch and is
combined also with the intestional malabsorptive component. Please
research all of your options before choosing another surgery that may not
be what you want or need when all is said and done.

I'm very sorry to hear that you are having so many problems with the band.
I love mine and have had no problems. Can you locate another doctor in
your area that has more experience with the band? I saw that someone
answered that "LOTS" of people have this problem and that may be
true but there are "LOTS" of successes and failures with every
type of surgery. Please do a lot of research before you decide what kind
of revision you should have. I do pray you find the one that is right for
you.

This surgeon does not sound experienced enough to do a correct Band and
fills. Inamed and my surgeon said that one shouldn't need more than 4
fills in a lifetime. There are way more successes than failures with the
Band. Most the folks on this site are against it because it's new. Only 1
person in history has died because of a band. And how many from RNY now?
We hear about them daily from RNY. So please, please find another surgeon
and think long and hard when considering another surgery. Like someone
else said, there are plenty of options.
