Question:
Are there any Dr's in L. A. area in BCBS network that don't charge surgeon fees????
I'm in the insurance industry, so I know and understand insurance, but I've been to 2 doctors so far and both say with BCBS they have a up-front fee. Dr. Fobi's is $7K and Dr. Nazarine's is $3k. I have BCBS EPO which utilizes the PPO network. I don't have that kind of money. I seen Dr Nazarine just today. I took a day off of work to see each doctor which were about 2 hours away. I'm a single mom and can't afford that much money or the time away from work. I was so excity last night about this consult I could barely sleep and now THIS! I KNOW there must be a surgeon out there (in L.A. county I Pray) that does not ask for this additional fee. Dr. Nazarine's office says they will pay for the whole procedure..everything except the closing of the incision...what the..?? I'm so frustrated and hurt I feel like crying...I've been researching this for about 6 months now and I want this surgery! I have a couple of coworkers that are going for their initial consult soon and a friend that started her testing already they became interested in the procedure after I have and haven't really done as much reseach as I have. Ok I admit i'm a little envious here...seems as though they will have the surgery before me. I'm glad for them, but I'm tired of this hide-and-seek as far as finding a Dr goes. I don't know if anyone can help...but I feel a little better just venting...thanks for letting me ramble on...One day I'll be on the other side...eventually! grrrrr =) — Robin J. Try Dr. Katkhouda at USC University Hospital. His number is on the site
here. He was very accomodating and accepted what my insurance paid. I
don't know if that is still the case as he has become very popular and a
lot busier.
I consider him the absolute best in surgical skills and the USC University
Hospital was wonderful. There are other staff sort of issues, but I was
willing to deal with those for the peace of mind having him as a surgeon
gave.
