Question:
Extremely frustrated!!
Guess I just need to vent!!! My surgery was supposed to be today but then at the last minuteI developed a really nasty cold! Dr. Rogers told me to come back in two weeks but then when I went to call the scheduling person she told me that Dr. Rogers doesnt have anything available until March! I know they cancelled my surgery for my own good, but still its just so frustrating to go through all of the preparation and looking forward to being on the other side and then to be let down! Anyone else ever have to go through this? Ive been in tears all morning! Thanks for letting me vent! — Kris T. (posted on January 7, 2003)

Aw, Kris, I'm so sorry! But, people cancel all the time. I'll just bet
you'll get in there before March. Good luck sweetie, I know how hard the
waiting is.

Kris, I would be very frustrated too if I were in your shoes. However, I
am a firm believer that EVERYTHING happens for a reason. Please hang in
there and don't give up! Best wishes!

Keep your chin up and stay focused on your goal to have surgery. Last year
I was in your shoes. I originally wanted to have surgery in dec of 2001
and because of my high blood pressure I had to go through a whole bunch of
tests with a cardiologist because my surgeon wanted me to be absolutely
safe. I was finally scheduled for Feb 22nd and even then my blood pressure
was so high I went in to the hosp fearing yet another cancelation. The
good news is that was 11 months and 125 lbs ago. Such a distant memory...I
am sure that your ordeal will be a memory of the past for you very very
soon! Best of luck to you!

I'm so sorry, I know the frustration of the wait. But I also know the
complications that you COULD have had, had you went through with the
surgery. Not that it will make a difference, but please let your Dr. know
that the openings are that far out, you may get on a list for any future
cancellations. My boss got in less than 3 weeks from approval because of a
cancellation. Best of luck to you, in the end, you will feel like this
prepared you even more, as hard as that is to believe. You are in my
prayers.

Aw, its just postponed, not cancelled. And March will be here before you
know it. I know its frustrating to get all ready, both psychologically and
physically, and then to have it postponed. Just be sure that when it does
get rescheduled, you avoid shaking hands, kids, wash your hands alot etc to
avoid getting sick again!

That is just horrible, I am sorry to hear. I am so worried that I won't
get over this nasty cold before my
surgery date (Jan 29). You know how nasty those hacking coughs can be.
Good luck, and I wish you a ton of patience.

I am so sorry to hear the sad news. But, remember the ol saying, everything
happens for a reason. Now, next time try and take something to
support/boost your system(like ginger root tea) to keep you from catching
anything!, like a cold -- If it is
ok with your doctor(it works each and every time for me). At least two
weeks before your s/d. Hope this help some. God Bless!! Baltimore,Md.

Are you a Christian? I know that all things work to the good for those that
love the Lord. He has ways of looking out for us that we are unaware of.
March seems like an eternity, I know. I was approved by my insurance in
< 2 weeks and it took over 6 wks to be able to get in for surgery. Hang
in there.

And....even if you aren't a Christian, I'm sure it will work out. Heck,
I'm a Jew and it worked out great for me. Good luck, honey.

Hi Kris,
I am so sorry!! I know how hard it is to wait, the first time!! If I were
you the next time I would see my pcp a week or so before surgery and get
checked out and just make sure everything is ok. I did that before mine and
I had a sinus infection which she promptly put me on antibiotics and
surgery went on as scheduled..I wish you the very best on your surgery.
Hang in there, March will be here before you know it!!

Hey Kris! I'm so so very sorry that your surgery was canceled. My surgery
is next Friday and I spend every chance I get praying that nothing goes
wrong before Friday. It's so hard to wait for your surgery date I know it
had to be a huge disappointment. Even though your surgery was cancelled
for your benefit I know it still feels terrible. I'll pray that you get a
sooner surgery date and stay healthy until you get your WLS. Best
wishes:)!!!

I am so sorry for you! My date is next Wednesday, and I am worried about
the same thing.
Try calling the receptionist back and ask her to check with the doctor.
Tell her that he said to come back in 2 weeks. Perhaps he leaves space for
people like you who have sudden cancellations. Perhaps his receptionist is
new and unaware of this policy. If she won't check with the doctor, ask to
speak to his assistant or the doctor, himself-- and tell him the situation.
You never know!
If this doesn't happen, definitely ask to have the first available
cancellation. And remember, regardless of your religion, or even if you
don't have one, it does seem that everything happens for a reason.
Good luck, Beth
