Need DS surgeon on Long Island, NY

Can anyone know of a great Lap DS surgeon on Long Island in NY? I had my Lap DS in Northern VA and now my dear friend in NY wants to do it too..desperately...but has only found DS surgeons in NYC. Thanks a million!!! Barb    — domedome (posted on December 17, 2002)

hello, where on long island, there are a few. dr. garber in great neck, dr. vohra in hewlet, dr. herron which is going to be dr. garbers assoc. come january. i orig went to dr. garber but he no long will be taking my insurance now i have an appt with dr. vohra he operates in south nassau hosp in oceanside which is one town over from where i live. good luck. it this does not help you use the surgeon search on this web site -best wishes

its not Long Island, but, I am pretty shore Dr Roslin & Dr Kurian (AL Roker's Dtr) does DS Lap...there website is www.nomoreobesity.com.

Hi -- I had my original Lap DS with Dr. Gagner/Mt. Sinai/NYC. Then, I had an emergency surgery to repair a massive internal hernia with Dr. Herron/Mt. Sinai/NYC. I didn't know he'd be moving (?) to a LI practice.... The only DS surgeons I know of are in NYC -- There's the Mt. Sinai Practice (they specialize in laparoscopic surgery), NYU (Dr. Ren who studied under Dr. Gagner) and now a few surgeons at Lennox Hill (Dr. Kurian and Dr. Roslyn) perform the DS -- but I think it is only offered open? There is another surgeon - Dr. Macura - on Staten Island who offers the DS (open). I don't know about the LI surgeons mentioned in a previous response... I would call them to see if they offer the DS as an option. I know Dr. Herron performs the DS and the RNY (both open and LAP)... He is an EXCELLENT surgeon. I have a post-op visit with him on Thursday. I'll ask him whether he's starting a new practice or whatnot then... All the best, (Teresa, preop: 307 lbs/bmi 45 (5'10"), now: 138 lbs/bmi 19.8)
