Question:
Any post ops been in menopause prior to surgery and steady period since surgery
I'm age 52, in menopause, no periods for 5 months prior to surgery, now 2 months after surgery, I have had one long period for two months straight. Has this happen to anyone else? How long can I expect this to last? I'm 4.5 months post op. — Darlene P. (posted on December 5, 2002)

Darlene, Call your OB/GYN TODAY! This is not normal. Yes the surgery can
mess with your hormones, but bleeding, even if only a little, for two
months straight is something that needs to be looked into.

All I say is when I had my pre-op test at the hospital, she said that if
you where not at least 2 yrs into menopause that your periods could come
back.I would still go she your ob/gyn though.

I've been in menopause 23 months and home 3 weeks post op and just started
the dreaded period again. It was good to hear it happens but hopefully that
it happens this one month only. I'm going to call doctor and ask, because I
had a tubal ligation(?)via naval 25 years ago and wonder if his doing my
lap there had anyhting to do with my period coming back. Will post if
anything newsworthy.
