Had it before surgery, have it after too... Have to take Immodium
occasionally, but it's no better or worse than before. Good luck. Diana

I had bad diarrhea from the liquid diet both pre and post-op. I even still
get it pretty often now at 3.5 months post-op. I wish I knew what to tell
you. I never take anything for it because I have had BOTH constipation AND
diarrhea during the same trip to the bathroom. I guess i'm afraid that if
I take immodium it'll just get worse.
It's a small price to pay for those 71 lbs I've lost, so I'm really not
complaining!

Mine was gone after surgery. Causes? Milk (lactose) is a common one, fats
for some people, sugars for others. Some can't do salad for XX months.
Some of it depends on your surgery type.

I had IBS for fifteen years before my RNY and it disappeared as soon as I
had the surgery. I had no problems with diarrhea at all after the surgery,
but some WLS patients become lactose intolerant or have the same
"dumping syndrome" symptoms with fats as they do with sugars. If
the diarrhea continues, notify your surgeon....there are some very
effective medications, over-the-counter and prescription, that can take
care of tha problem. Best wishes!
