Question:
Alliance PPO Insurance??Any one...
I am worried about not being approved for the surgery. It has been 3 weeks from my consult with the Dr., I havent heard anything yet. Do I need to contact the Dr. Office or do I just need to waite? — Kimberly M. (posted on November 14, 2002)

Don't lose hope, but I used to have Alliance PPO and I was denied. They
told my doctor that I needed to be on a doctor supervised diet for at least
6 months of the last year before they would approve the surgery. My
doctor's office said I was the only person ever denied. They tried a second
attempt and again I was denied. I stopped trying to fight it beacuse I was
switching jobs/insurance. I would call Alliance directly and ask. If they
deny you, fight it. I am sure if your doctor feels surgery is best for you
you will be able to fight it. Worse comes to worse six months is not the
end of the world (I have been waiting) and you can count your inital visit
as the start of the six month doctor supervised diet period. Hope this
helps.

I have alliance PPO with an 80/20 backup for out of network. I was approved
and the hospital was paid 100% and my surgeon was out of network and was
80/20. I was approved very fast, about 1 week.

call your doctor and make sure they sent the info on and then check with
insurance to make sure they received it and if their is any news. It's my
experience (and others I've noticed) that the noisy wheel truly does get
oiled and the quiet ones wait forever! If I hadn't checked I would have
waited a LONG time, as my surgeon hadn't passed the info on to his person
that handled insurance and then later the insurance didn't get everything
in the fax transmission and would have denied me - I faxed the rest of the
info myself, since I had it. Good luck!
