I only have to take one Flintstones Complete vitamin daily, so I am not sure what vitamins you are talking about. The only thing I could suggest is call your surgeon's office. They are the only ones that can tell you exactly what you are supposed to be doing since the rest of have different instructions after surgery...Take care!..Karen (lap RNY 9/20/02- down 51 pounds)

I take a prenatal vitamin, a zinc cap and an A&D cap every morning with breakfast about 8am. I take 1 500mg calcium citrate 3 times a day, at noon, 5pm and bedtime. I take 500 mcg of B-12 at noon daily. I also take 400mcg of folic acid every other day with breakfast. If you're just taking a multi-vitamin, then take it with breakfast. Put them in your kitchen where you'll see them every morning. Just take it with a swallow of water and then eat.

Mabel, Here is what I do because I have the same problem. First thing in the morning I have hot herbal tea or sugar free hot chocolate. THis is when i take my vitamin and prozac for the day. Then after that I take my B12. My dr. recommends that you wait 4 hours til you take your calcuim because it won't absorb with the iron so then at lunch, dinner and bedtime I take a chewable caltrate...then I am done. As far as remembering I but a little basket in the cupboard right next to my tea cup...then I know I need to take them. Good luck. You really need to take them, I am already loosing a little hair at almost 3 mo. out because I did forget to take them for a while! Happy loosing!

I drink a cocktail of calcium, multivitamin, and antioxidant in 6 oz water first thing in the morning. It tastes like cranberry spritzer and then I am done for the day except to drink more tang flavored calcium in 2 oz water at night for a great night's sleep! Very simple and does not hurt my little tummy in the least.

Like the firs poster at the bottom, my surgeon/dietician have only suggested that I take the Flintstones chewable twice a day. I'm only 1 month out and they told me that once I come in for my 3-month check they would determine then if I need to add any other supplements. I asked when do I switch from the chewable vitamin and my dietician asked why do I want to? There is no need to switch until there is a determination made that I have a deficiency setting in. If this does the trick I don't have to worry about taking any other supplements. The chewables are absorbed well by my pouch and are inexpensive.

I take 'Liquid Health' mulitple vitamins and mix it with no-sugar added grape juice. It tastes great and I usually drink it with my dinner. It is one ounce and I add about 1 to 2 ounces of juice. It is better than swallowing another pill. I take my calcium, iron and folic acid with food to give it a chance to absorb better.

I take prenatal vitamins that I get at Wal Mart. I take one in the morning when I get up and one before going to bed at night. I keep the bottle on my bedside table to remind me and I always have water or a drink there. So, while I'm dressing in the morning I see the bottle, take the vitamin and get on with my live. You need to work on remembering to take them - they really are important.

Because I take 25 different vitamins a day, I went out and bought 2 of those plastic holders. A big one, which has 4 compartments for morning, mid-morning, afternoon and dinner and then a single one for bedtime. This way it helps me remember. Now sometimes I forget, but by looking at the vitamin tray, I realize when I have taken and then what I need to take. Good luck.

If you've had RNY you need to make sure you take three things: Calcium citrate (not carbonate!), multivit with IRON, and an absorbable form of B12 (sublingual tablets, liquid under the tongue, or shots). I have on my profile the stuff I take but it is really trial and error until you can find something that works for YOU. I take liquid calcium, liquid B12 in the morning. At lunch I take my multivit (can't take it with the calcium cuz iron would prevent the calcium from absorbing). At dinner or bedtime I take another dose of calcium. It's manageable and I'm covering all the bases according to ASBS.
