Question:
I WAS DENIED BECAUSE THEY FOUND I WAS HYPOTHROID
AND I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOUR MONTHS FOR THE LEVEL TO COME UP ,TO APPLY AGAIN. HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE, AND WERE THEY FINALLY APPROVED? — Karin S. (posted on October 12, 2002)

OMG... What insurance do you have? I am also Hypothyroid and have been
concerned about this happening too. I have not had my levels done recently
and am worried about that myself. What was your last level?

I have been hypothyroid for several years. It is usually stable but when I
had my lab work done for my surgery my levels were up. I was still able to
have the surgery and my doctor raised my dose from 1/2 to a full dose
because he didn't want me to be hypo while trying to lose weight. I've lost
good and my levels have been good.

I am hypothyroid and have been taking synthroid for about a year. I had my
surgery May 21, 2002 and it wasn't even an issue for me. I think you
probably just have to get it treated and then there should be no problems
having surgery.

Karin,I havent had my preop tests yet, but I do have Hypothyroid disorder
for years. I have had gallbladder surgery and an ovary removed though
previously. When I had those done, My surgeons wouldnt do the surgery till
my Thyroid level was normal. But like the previous poster said I dont think
it takes 4 months..I was thinking it took me only about 2 weeks.. Good Luck
