Question:
Where can I purchase Surgi-cream?
This is quite embarrassing...My surgery is Friday and I am in dire need of some type of hair removal for my stomach area. If I shave it, there will be stubble there by the next day (and I was told that I shouldn't shave it anyways). I saw in the library that someone had suggested Surgi-cream to someone. Anyone else ever use it? How well does it work? (The hair is dark and coarse right below my belly button.) Where can I find it? Is there anything that works better? Sally Hansen doesn't seem to do the trick (cream or wax). HELP!! — karmiausnic (posted on September 18, 2002)

They carry it at quite a few places now: Eckerds, Albertson's grocery
store, Sally's Beauty Supply. I've only used it on my lip, but it works
well.

Osco Drug Stores also carries Surgi-cream. It is quite good for facial hair
removal, don't know about the tummy (although now that you mention it, I
might try it. My tummy is kinda hairy) Good Luck :) - Anna LAP RNY 7/3/02

Hi. Don't do anything to it. You will be prepped before your surgery
(most likely after you're under anesthesia). Let the surgical team prep
you in the manner they feel is most appropriate. You don't want to do
anything to the area to irritate the skin. This will increase your risk
for infection, and may possibly jeopardize your surgery. My surgeon will
cancel a surgery if there's any question of rash or irritation anywhere on
the abdomen. Don't be embarrased about this hair... lots of women have it,
and believe me, the nurses and sugeon have seen it all! Good luck on your
big day! JK, RN
