Question:
I am totally scared that I am going to eat to much and not know it and totally
become the way I was before. I am truly scared. Does anyone else feel this way? — Brandy H. (posted on September 9, 2002)

I worried about it at first. However there will be times you'll over eat at
the beginning as you learn how much you can eat. And you WILL throw up if
you do. You can't over eat as you will get sick. I still occasionally
overeat... and I do pay for it and don't do it much. ;) Don't worry... WLS
will keep you honest. It is the grazing that will put on weight.

Brandy- Daniel is right. The main purpose of your tool is to let you know
when you have eaten to much. The fear you have is normal and I know every
time I platue I still fear it is because I'm eating too much. It is part of
the journey you have to take. I know for me it makes me face my food issues
and work thru them. Best wishes on your journey. LAP RNY 14 weeks -74lbs.

Thank you for posting this question. I was going to do the same because
I'm only a week and a half out and I've been scared about this as well.
But I also got my answer yesterday because I over-ate and although I didn't
throw up, I felt like I was going to die from the pain in my stomach. So
my tool was working for me even when my head said I was hungry.

Brandy, you learn thru trial and error how much to eat. If you take that 1
bite too much you will either throw up or have severe pouch pain for an
hour or more. I have never thrown up but have experienced the pouch pain
from either eating too much or too fast. Eventually, you learn that 1/2 a
sandwich fills you up so don't even think about taking a bite out of the
2nd half...don't be scared, its wonderful to have the control of knowing so
little fills you up.

I forgot to mention that if I start to eat alittle more than my pouch can
handle I can feel "foam" backing up into my throat. Eventually if
I eat one bite to many it comes up. Sometimes it hurts so much that I
delibertly have to throw up some of the foam. Anyway, go slow and listen to
your body's signals. It will tell you when you've had enough. Eventually
you will know when to stop BEFORE those signals hit you.
