Question:
Why do I feel this way NOW?

I am almost 3 months post op and down 55 pounds. I was feeling so great after surgery, my surgeon was even astonished. I was eating good, exercising, etc. and never had a hard time with my diet restrictions. For the past 2 weeks I am nothing but tired. I have no motivation and NO appetite. Just the thought of eating makes me nauseous. I am very happy about WLS and have nothing "wrong" in my life, but am extremely fatigued! What makes it worse is that I haven't had my period since right after surgery (PG tests are negative though). Any advice? Please help me out on this! I don't even feel like doing my job or taking care of my daughter lately! Thanks in advance!    — emilyfink (posted on September 8, 2002)

Presumably at 3 months you are just about to get or just had labs? Where are your protein & albumin levels? Iron? B12? Sometimes they hold, sometimes they drop like a stone. Compare to pre-op levels and see if you are lower? higher? the same? And that will give you something to start with. You're drinking plenty of water, as in water, right?

Maybe Your getting ready to start your period. I didn't have one for 2 months then I got tired and Crabby and didnt feel good. I also had cramps which i dont normally get and for a day I had diarehha. Then I started my period and I felt much better after about 5 days. I would also suggest getting your blood drawn for your levels to be safe. Good luck!

A few things come to mind. First, as a previous poster suggested, you need to make sure that all of your labs are OK, including your B12. Are you getting B12 injection?? Maybe you need them. Also, depression is not uncommon following this type of weighht loss. Much of it has to do with hormones circulating. If everything else is OK, you may want to try a course of an antidepressant to see if that makes you feel better. REmember that depression is a chemical imbalance, it does not mean that there is a problem in your life, just in your chemical balance in your brain! Good Luck, I hope that you feel better!!
