Question:
OK, did you miss your period after surgery?

I am starting to feel defective! I had open RNY on June 12th, got my period as usual on June 16th and now haven't had one since. I am concerned since I was always regular before. Could it be just from surgery/rapid weight loss? All pregnancy tests are negative (which they should...I'm using birth control). Anyone else have this?    — emilyfink (posted on August 24, 2002)

hi there! no you are not defective :) its very common for women to have cycle problems after surgery some dont stop while others are late. this is due to the estrogen levels during rapid weight loss and im sure what our bodies have just been through. i had my period right before surgery and then again right after, then the following month i was like 2 weeks late then early etc but now all has calmed down and returned to normal. everything will be ok hope this helped :)

I had a small period the week of surgery, then I went 4 months..now it's clockwork again.
