I'm only 7 weeks post op, but I used to drink Mike's pre op... because it
was so sweet. I would think between the sugar, the alcohol, and the
carbonation.. they might not be a good choice.. at least not for me... good
luck.. the sugar content should be on the bottle, shouldn't it?

I personally have not tried any alcoholic beverages since surgery. My
dietician and surgeon advise against any drinking of these due to the
difference in our digestive processes post surgery. The alcohol is not
broken down properly anymore and poses more of a threat to your liver than
previously.

I have tried them and haven't had any problems with drinking them. I am
also a year post op. I can tell you that it takes me an hour to finish one
because of the carbonation. I have not been able to drink sodas because of
the carbonation since the surgery so I was a little surprised I could drink
one. The sugar content doesn't make me dump but then I am over a year post
op now.

I didn't have "Mike's" but I had "Doc's" Hard Lemonade.
I am 8 months post op (lap RNY) . I was about 7 months when I had it. Took
me a while to drink it, but I was ok. Didn't dump. I think if you were to
"guzzle" it down, then maybe you would dump. If you want one,
have one, just drink it slowly.

Even as a post-op I drink wine regularly with no problems - it doesn't make
me sick and it hasn't affected my weight loss. On Fourth of July I tried a
Mike's Cranberry hard Lemonade and Mmm, mmm, mmm it did taste gooood. But
after only a third of a bottle I found the sweetness was too overbearing
and went back to drinking my wine. I don't dump, but then again, I don't
eat sweets - maybe it was just paranoia but I felt like if I finished that
bottle of Mikes I wouldv'e been totally sick to my stomach.

Neither of those, but I did enjoy the Smirnoff's Ice. Not sweet at all-
reminds me of a Fresca; but then it's a malt beverage (much like a beer w/o
beer taste). I cannot drink fast, and so by the time I get to half done,
it's warm and I lose interest altogether! Still, I like to be able to
taste one when I want one. Like most foods etc we are encouraged to avoid,
once I have the 'forbidden' fruit- I find I really didn't want much of it
anyway! Sill, my Surgeon never mentioned liquor was forbidden in the first
place.
