Question:
TriCare Prime
This is for those of you with TriCare Prime. Will they pay for the tummy tuck if needed and what are the qualifications? Thanks. — jamie H. (posted on July 24, 2002)

Jamie, I may not be much help, but I am Tricare Standard. I asked a
benefits representative if the panni AKA: TT was covered, and she said yes,
if it is medically necessary. From what I understand, that would be if you
are getting irritation, infections (yeast or other) from the apron hanging
down. I had an elderly patient with an apron and someone had been
forgetting to put a pillow case between it and the groin area...it was not
a pretty or good smelling sight. It can get pretty serious when you
consider the skin breakdown. With Tricare, you shouldn't have any probs.

Hi, I have TriCare Standard and they are going to pick up what my primary
ins. doesn't cover. If I had no insurance, they would pay for it if
medically necessary. I don't think rashes are absolutely necessary for
approval. I didn't get rashes. I took care not to. I have bad back pain
though and have been seeing a chiropractor for the past 10 mos. without
relief. My PS took pictures, and after 1 look at them the insurance co.
approved without any questions. If your apron hangs below the pubic area,
you shouldn't have any probs being approved.
