Question:
Did anyone lose weight after having a hysterectomy?

I am 10 months post-op rny, have lost 115 pounds and am having a hysterectomy next week. I was just thinking I may lose a few more pounds just from having a few body parts removed! Is it just wishful thinking?    — Nelda D. (posted on June 24, 2002)

I hate to discourage you, but when I, as well as my mom, 3 sisters, Mother-in-law, 2 aunts and a friend had our hysterectomies is when we all started gaining weight. I'm not sure this will affect you this way since you are post op WLS but that is how it went for all of us. Good Luck!

My hysterectomy many years ago had not impact on my weight. One way or the other.

I think you need to be even more vigilant. I had a hysterectomy 4 years ago and gained some weight after from the hormones. Once you stabilize though, it won't be a problem, you don't keep gaining, just an initial after effect I guess.
