Question:
Has anyone developed a leak at least one week post-op?

I had surgury on 6-3-02. Doctor said it was the most difficult one has done to date. Was in the hospital 7 days. The day after I got home I was walking and felt a tearing sensation in my right side. It hurt a lot. Something tore and I started leaking alot into my drains. I have not been able to have anything by mouth since, except ice chips, but I still have a lot of drainage. Doctors can't explain were all the fluid is coming from. Also, how long did you take to heal?    — Renee H. (posted on June 20, 2002)

At my last WLS support meeting Dr. Steward told us about a patient that had complications. She formed a blood clot in her lung a week post-of and formed a leak 9 days post op. Are you still eating food dyed blue? For the first two weeks after surgery my doctor requires everything that goes in the body to be dyed blue. That makes it easier to find a leak. My thoughts are with you. God Bless. Kim
