Question:
I am 4 weeks post op Open-RNY, too early for a plateau?
I haven't lost anything in the last 2 weeks, I'm doing everything except having trouble with the water. What's going on? — Debbie W. (posted on May 11, 2002)

Hi Debbie:
I hit a plateau from weeks 4 through 6 1/2. I just
kept reading this site, and getting reassurance that
it would pass. And you know what, it did for me and
it will for you. This is going to be a long process
so sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
Best wishes,

No, not at all. I'd say you're due.

I had the same problem and was very upset. I figured i'd be the one person
that this surgery didn't work for. I'm now 7 weeks post-op, but I seemded
to stop losing weight at 4 wks. I made an effort to get in enough water and
continued my walking and low and behold I dropped 10 lbs last week. The
doctor had told me it would work and it does.

I had surgery about 4 1/2 weeks ago. Past couple of weeks I haven't lost
anything. But this morning when I stepped on the scale I realized I have
lost 6 more pounds putting me at a total of 37.5 so far!!! I was scared
that I wasn't going to lose anymore, but I figured it was kind of
unrealistic to continue at the pace I was going. I had lost 31 pounds in 2
weeks.....that's a crazy pace if you ask me!! Keep the faith.....I am!!!

This is VERY normal. From what I have seen, myself included, a plateau at
about 1 month is normal. I didnt loose anything from 4-7 weeks out, then
all of a sudden, I lost 10 lbs in one day. I am now 7 mos out and down
97lbs. Dont worry...it will come off.
