Question:
Please help me as a pre-op!
I have been getting so frustrated with how long this process is taking. Lately, I have been so upset, I just eat everything in sight. I was NEVER a binge eater ever. Now, I get so depressed with the waiting that I stuff my face. I don't want to get in to that before surgery. Otherwise, I am normally a very light eater (which is why everyone wonders why I am overweight to begin with). Any advice is very appreciated!! I hope I am not the only one who has felt like this! — emilyfink (posted on April 19, 2002)

Oh boy! Do I know what you're feeling! It took me 36 very stressed out
weeks to get my surgery approved... and let me tell you, I done a LOT of
emotional eatting and put on a LOT of weight... Good news was that weight
came off almost immediately after surgery. Good luck to you! It's worth
every day you struggled with insurance once you get to the other side..

I know exactly how you're feeling. I have been overweight all my life but
never a binge eater until stressing over weight loss surgery. As difficult
as it is, try to keep a positive outlook and be doing all you can to get
through this stressful time. Sometimes I just have to try to take a break
from the research, the websites, etc., and try to focus my attention
elsewhere. Good luck to you, and remember that there are others in the same
boat as you...feel free to e-mail me if you'd like.

I didnt have that long a wait but can totally sympathize, it was stressful
and I turned to food, it was as though there was no holds barred. The
thing that stopped me was the thought of how much more I would have to lose
if I piled on more now, how much longer it would take me to get to goal and
how I could be wasting some of my honeymoon period when the weight falls
off by adding extra to start with. It is hard waiting, cant deny that, I
became totally obsessed with it, but the thing that helped me was getting
on line, chatting to other people in the same boat and trying to hook up
with pre-ops and post-ops in my area. I have a great live support group
all living round me now. Good luck to you.
