I had the Lab-Band surgery on March 25th so I'm still new to this too. I
also had GERD before the surgery. I was able to control most of the
symptoms pre-op with lifestyle changes but I still took antacids 5-6 times
per week. I am now 3 weeks post-op and have not had one instance of
heartburn or sour stomach. My doc prescribes two Tums before bedtime for
everyone and that may be helping. I think the changes in my diet because
of the surgery are really going to help me be GERD free. E-mail if I can
help with anything.

I used to take Regulin, Aciphex AND Prilosec. I took EACH 3 times a day
and still had severe acid reflux when in a laying down position. Now I
take none of the above! The only pill I am advised to take is Prevacid
during the healing process due to the surgery (RNY) having the effect of a
Peptic Ulcer. But this is supposedly only temporary. And I drink O.J.
regularly now (low acid) and since 04-07-02 (day of surgery) have not had
reflux and or any form of heartburn whatsoever!!!!
Good Luck to ya and P.S> I consider this symptoms POSITIVE!
