Question:
I am 6 wks post op have not lost 1 lb in 4 wks
I lost 24 lbs within the first 2 wks of open rny, have not lost anything since. I am getting very frustrated even though I am consuming a very small amount of food. Have exercised but still nothing. Can anyone please tell me how long plateaus are suppose to last? — Gloria H. (posted on April 13, 2002)

What is your regimen like? 60g protein supps? 64+ oz of water? Vites &
calcium citrate? 5-6 teensy meals? No sugar, no milk? Any pain or odd
feelings?

I kept track of the monthly results. So for example, I lost 23 pounds my
first month. If I lost it all in the first week, and nothing after,so be
it. It was very predictable after a few months. Try just looking at what
you lose for each month. You will find that some weeks you might not lose
and then make up for it the next week. Make sure you measure yourself, as
you could be losing inches during that time. Good Luck!

The same thing happened to me. I'm almost 3 months and have lost only 31
pounds. I'm averaging a pound a week. Though I haven't lost any weight in
the last 2 weeks. I did go down 2 more inches in the waist I don't
understand how this can happen. I'm going to try the Atkins diet and keep
my carbs under 20 and up my exercise.

If you lost 24 lbs the first 2 weeks, then you must have been extremely
dehydrated at that point. It is physically impossible to have lost 24 lbs
of fat in 2 weeks. My guess is that since then, you have somewhat
rehydrated, which is offsetting the amount of fat you are loosing. Also if
you are not getting in enough water, it will cause you to not loose as
much. I find that the weeks that I get the most protien and am religious
about getting in all my water, are the weeks that I loose the most.
