Question:
I am looking for information...I am having a hard time keeping the weight on!!
I would like to put on between 15-20 lbs. I do not like the way that I look right now. I am way too bony and have lost too much weight. My surgeon didn't want me to be lower than 150lbs (I am 5'9") I now weight 133lbs. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. — Debra H. (posted on April 9, 2002)

Never having had that problem, nor anticipating having that experience, I
can only think of trying one of those "bulk" building type
supplements that they sell at places like GNC. I think that they are heavy
on calories. I don't know if it will help or how much of it you will
actually absorb, but I can't think of anything else. Best of luck! Jean

I agree with Jean I've Never had that problem ever. But, I would ask the
people at GNC, as they are the experts on this subjects and know their
products. Also, there are message boards and such you can go on for info on
weight gain.

There are definately meds that they can give you to help you absorb more
weight. I have recently been prescribed these and while not having gained
any yet,(I have other problems) I haven't lost anymore since being on this.
I would also tell you that increasing your proteins might help some too.
I had the BPD/DS and not the RNY and I have no idea what surgery you had.
Good luck because I know exactly where you stand on this. Ahhh one other
thing...."if" you are less than a year post op, you can hope that
you will gain the obligatory 10 pounds that most docs say you will if you
go below goal. Hugs.

You might try getting in a few more carbs. Try some of the higher carb
veggies like carrots or beets and maybe add another piece of fruit every
day.

The key is to break all the rules on this site!! LOL Basically, increase
the carbs on your diet, graze a little and drink high-calorie liquids.
Good luck ... sorry you're dealing with such a sad problem. I wish I had
that problem!!!
