Question:
I'm 3 wks post-op is it ok to sleep on my stomach if it doesn't hurt?
I don't know if doing so will mess anything up or not. — heddo30 (posted on April 5, 2002)

Hi, I am just 16 days post-op LAP RNY. I started sleeping on my belly about
4 days ago. My doctor said that as long as I felt comfy doing so it was
just fine. I couldn't sleep well on my back so I started to sleep on my
side then one nite woke up on my belly and I've been sleeping on it since.
Best wishes on your journey...Debbie

I'm 11 weeks post-op Lap/RNY and I started to sleep on my stomach after
about a week and I've had no problems at all. I think that as long as it
doesn't bother you you won't have any problems.

I have been sleeping on my stomach since about post-op day 3.. I had lap..
I asked the dr. if it was ok and he said as long as it doesn't hurt me it
was fine!

It's ok if it doesn't hurt. I woke up in the middle of the night and found
I was on my side. after that I slept on my side. About a week later, I
could sleep on my stomach with just a little pain when I moved around.

I had open rny and started sleeping on my side in the hospital. MY back was
hurting badly and I managed to get on my side with pillows wedged behind me
to prop me up and pillows in front to support my stomach. When I got home I
did the same thing, since postop day 5 I've been sleeping kinda the
side/stomach position with only a pillow in front. I wondered the same
thing but I figured if it doesn't cause me great pain then it must be ok.
