Question:
how long will it take to heal

i had open rny on 2/26 my incision opened and started to drain on 3/5 the draining has slowed down so much that i only have to change the dressing once a day.but i am still on antibiotics to prevent infection.i now have a whole in my incision space the size of a quarter that formed over the last month.how long will it take to close?    — Latisha M. I had my surgery on 2/23 and I am still draining too. It is really frustrating.

I had my sur.4-17-02 and I still have a wound that is healling slowly. So you are not alone. Be sure it isn't infected. If it drains a bloody whitish drainage that has an odor then you need an antibiotic. I also have a nurse come daily to pack and changed my dressing. My surgeon said that some people just heal slower than others. So call your doc. if you have any signs of infection and maybe you need a nurse also? I would ask him/her also. Good luck
