Question:
What is this lump?
Hi I am 8 months post op and I was laying down the other day and I notived a lump on my stomach. It pertrudes out enough that you can see it through my clothes. When you press on it, it moves. It is squishy. It is to the right on my incision towards the top. It is about 1 inch in diameter. Over the last few days it does appear larger. Any advise on what this may be? Skin perhaps? i am concerned! — Jennifer L. (posted on March 21, 2002)

Lumps are usually associated with hernias, but it could just be scar
tissue. I think you should call your doc and let him/her have a look at it
:)

I had a similar situation only mine didn't prtrude enough to be seen thru
clothing and it was right on the incision line near the bottom. I thought
it was a hernia but i had it checked and
it was just a build up of scar tissue. It could be a hernia i would have it
checked by your surgeon.

Sounds like a hernia. I had the same exact symptoms. It was squishy like
you said and if you apply pressure on it you can feel it get sucked back
in. This is very common for post-op patients. See your doctor.

I've got the same thing, it's a hernia. My doctor told me that unless it
hurts, don't worry about it. I'm nearly 3 years post op and will
eventually have a hernia operation (with a tummy tuck).
