Question:
Do you see the weight loss in you arms and legs?
I am wondering if I will lose a lot of weight in my arms and legs as well. They aren't really huge right now, but I am still hoping they will get smaller. Does everyone see that? — emilyfink (posted on March 17, 2002)

Hi Emily,
I did see a huge difference in my arms and thighs. I am 14 months post op
and have lost 10 inches off each thigh. I didn't measure my arms before
surgery- darn! I know that everyone is different and will lose weight in
different areas and at a different pace.

Hi Emily,
One of the best things I did before surgery was take my measurements. When
I feel like I'm not loosing fast enough (you know that I wanted to wake up
skinny!) I put the measuring tape at the measurement that I was pre-surgery
and then place it around my arm, thigh or abdomen. It lifts my spirit to
see visibly how my inches have changed. I have lost inches all over, but
my head hasn't caught up with my body yet and sometimes I can't see it.
This really helps me. I have lost 3" in each arm and 7" in each
thigh. I have even lost 1" off my wrist. Take those measurements!
You will be encouraged and amazed in just a few short months after surgery.

I'm a slow loser and only 2 months postop. My measurements show I have lost
4" of my waist and 1.5" of my arms, thighs
and neck.

I noticed in the first month after surgery that my arms were MUCH smaller.
I've also noticed that my calves and upper legs were smaller in the 2nd
month.

My legs and arms were the first place I lost weight. I could see it in my
legs way before my waist. I am 2.5 months out and down 35ish pounds.

My arms especially still seem big to me, but when I look at my measurements
charts, it's undeniable: I've lost a lot of inches from my arms and legs.
Have a look at my profile, and make sure you check out my swimsuit photos
too for an honest look at what's happened to me. Of course, YMMV, as
always. :-)
