Hi Emily: I started out a little lower but not by much. I started at 237
with a BMI of 41 and I'm 5'4". I am 9 months post-op and now weigh
130 with a BMI of 22. Now wearing a size 6 and loving it!! Looking into a
tummy tuck...possibly June or July. Ciao!

Emily, I started at 248 the day of surgery with a BMI of 45. So we're
pretty close although your taller then me (5'2). I'm 19 weeks post op
today and have lost 72 pounds. The first month I lost about 30 pounds and
the second month about 15 to 20. After that, I've averaged about 10 to 12
pounds a month. I had my 3 month visit to my surgeon on Friday and he was
thrilled with my progress. He thinks I will definately get down to my goal
weight or surpass it since I've lost almost 2/3 of my excess weight. I
figure by the time I see him again in June, I should be about 10 to 15
pounds from goal. I had my surgery on 11/5/01.

I have almost duplicate stats as you- 21 years old, 269 originally,
5'6.5" and a starting BMI of 42. I am now 2.5 months postop, and down
35ish pounds- I'm losing it slowly but steadily. It isn't happening as
quickly for me as it does for people with more to lose and I accept that. I
also workout 3 times a week, so I'm building muscle. Look at my profile, I
kept a pretty detailed account of my journey so far. If you have any
questions, feel free to email me! Good Luck.

I started out with a BMI of 42 and had surgery May 15, 2001. I have lost 96
pounds and have gone from a size 24 to a size 8 and my weight loss has not
stopped yet. I feel so normal now, it all seems a miracle to me. I am
really, really happy that I had surgery.

I am 30, 5'5 and weighed 250 lbs with a BMI of 42. Had open RNY 11-12-01
and am now 4 months post-op and I am down 100 lbs and weighing 150. I was
wearing size 24 clothes now wearing size 12. I feel really good and hope
the other 20 I want to loose come off as easily.

I am 43 years old and had BMI of 44 and weighed 266 at 5 ft. 4 inches. I am
9 months post-op open-RNY tomorrow and have lost 104 pounds. I am very
pleased with the surgery! Some sagging skin, but have gone from size 24-26
to size 14 in "fitted" clothes, but am wearing some smalls in
stretch-type pants now. I have been on a plateau for about a month, but am
increasing muscle mass with lots of exercise and weights. I will tell you
to optimize those first 6 months as they are pretty magical! Best Wishes!
