Question:
I'm 4 days post-op. Just got home yesterday
My feet and legs are bloated up with water. My skin feels 2 sizes to small. When will this go away? When will I start to feel noemal again? — Alison N. (posted on March 16, 2002)

This does not sound too good....you may need to up your fluid intake and
your DOctor may need to prescribe a water pill.
But check with your doc soon.

I remember that feeling very well. What did it for me was taking my blood
pressure medicine, which has a diuretic in it. I swear I went pee every 15
minutes for 48 hours straight. Had a sheet burn on my right elbow from
propping myself up from the bed so much....but after a couple days I went
back down from all the puffiness to pretty much normal. Hope this helps a
little. Good luck to you.

My ankles and feet were very swollen for about 10 days following surgery.
It went away without any medication being given. I think it was just a
buildup from all the fluids I was given in the hospital. I was in for 5
days and was given IV fluids from beginning to end. Good luck!

I came home 14 pounds heavier than I left. My hubbie said my face looked
like an over-inflated balloon. [Thank God, he didn't tell me this until
after all the bloat was gone!] I peed constantly for 4 days after I left
the hospital. I was really scared that I'd never get to sleep through the
night again! But it all passed (literally) by the time I'd been home a
week.
