Question:
I need opinions on different protein drinks please!
TO keep myself from going nutty waiting for the surgery, I have decided to start experimenting with protein drinks to find one I really like for post op. What does everyone prefer and why? Isopure? Myoplex? Myogenix? Thanks so much for the advice!!!! — emilyfink (posted on March 3, 2002)

I've tried all kinds...but, surprise! I like the one my Surgeon
recommended the best! ProComplex. It's available at GNC .... 55 grams of
protein - 4 grams of carb, no sugar. It's great with water (DH likes it
with milk). For my money, chocolate is best! Hope you find one you like.

Hi there. Since there are soooooo many different protein powders out there
to try, I recommend getting samples before you spend $30 on a big tub of
something you absolutely hate. Go to www.vitalady.com and you can get
samples of every type of protein powder know to man, in all different
flavors for $2 each. Then you will be able to decide which ones you like
beforehand. The samples are 1 serving each and all require that you mix
with 4 oz. of water. I did that and I spent $40, but I had 20 different
kinds to choose from. Also, as a tip, get a hand blender because some of
the powders DO NOT shake well. Good luck!

Hi, I am still pre-op, but I have seen others post that at least some of
the ones they liked pre-op, they couldn't stand post op. I do agree about
getting some samples from vitalady.com. I did that and am saving them till
I need them.

I cant stand protein drinks.. so I have experimented with protein bars...
which I find very good!!! I like the chewing sensation better than the
swallowing sensation....lol I like the CArb Solutions - 2 grms
carbohydrates - 22 grams protein... and the EAS protein bar... cookies and
cream... about the same in regards to protein and carbohydrates.... I
average 75 grm protein a day and have NOT once used liquid protein... My
best to you... good that you are experimenting now!!!

I tried about a dozen samples from the VitaLady and by far ProScore 100 is
the most palatable. I like the vanilla. You can mix it w/ water, crystal
light, sugar free hot chocolate, yogurt, or any other thing you want to
try. I agree with the other post about trying some samples. A hand blender
is the best way to mix it (I got one at Wal-Mart for $10). LOL

I tried a ton of protein drinks and couldn't stomach anything. I finally
found a protein hot choc. that is delicious. It only has 15 grams of
protein but I put two in one cup and drink that twice a day. I buy it at a
local weight loss shop but you can order it online from here.
http://www.jumpshops.com/sites/weightlossandwellness/default.cfm. It is
called Cocoa Supreme Drink Mix. It comes in different flavors and is
delicious. I hope this helps. Your Weight Loss Pal.

I tried a Zero Carb Isopure by nature's best. it mixes well, and tastes
alright, but it smells terrible. I mixed mine with Decaff coffee, and
Sugerfree chocolate syrup. One thing I have to report though. When I was
driniking the Protein shakes I was a on along Plateau. the plateau broke
shortly after I ran out of Protein powder. took about a month, and a half
to finish it with one shake a day. In my opinion it was the protein that
caused my Plateau. I am not happily loosing again, and taking no
supplaments except Childrens Chewable Vitamins. make your own decision. see
what works for you, just heed my advice. those protein powders are
expensive, and didn't seem to work, and in fact seemed to work against my
weight loss.

I get my protein from food and protein bars but Michele Curran at
www.vitalady.com has samples of many protein drink products that you can
buy for $1.50 each. This way you don't have to spend 20 or 30 dollars on a
whole can of something you don't like. Also GNC has a money back guarantee
so if you buy a protein drink there and don't like it they are suppossed to
give you a complete refund but I've never actually tried to return anything
there.
