Question:
Why do I throw up more at night?
I have seem this addressed a couple of times before, but not to the extent that answers most of my questions. Why do I feel full even before I eat at night? Why when I eat something that I have successfully eaten before earlier in the day can I not tolerate at night? Why do I throw up a mucousy substance? is this what is making me feel full, and Subsequently nauseous? Is there a way to get rid of that feeling? do antacids help? Is there any info on this site or others that any of you have come across that could help me understand this Phenomenon? Any help is appreciated, as I am getting very sick of getting sick on things that should not be making me sick. Thanks! — sbinkerd1 (posted on February 18, 2002)

Hi Scott, I have the same issues with not being able to eat at night (but I
don't throw up). I have given up eating with the family. I just try to
sit with them and drink most of the time. Every time I try to eat, I can
only eat about 2 bites, then too full. The only thing I have heard to
explain this is that our pouches are very sensitive to stress or anxiety.
I figured that since dinner time is such a rush, rush time for me, maybe
that is the reason that I cannot eat. I think our emotions play a role in
the amount our pouch can tolerate. So I just wait until the kids are in
bed, then sit down for a quiet meal. It has worked for me although I don't
quite understand it. Take a look at what is going on around you at dinner
time. If you don't have kids, what are you thinking about? Do you have
the days stresses racing through your mind? Why you throw up a mucousy
substance is beyond me. I did do that when I had my 2 strictures, and it
did produce lots of saliva which ended up being thrown up. But since you
can eat during the day, that doesn't seem to be the cause. This sounds
like one for the doc. Hope you figure it all out. And when you do,
enlighten us!!
