Question:
Do I need to bring x-rays or documentation when I go through airport security?
Do I need to have xrays or paperwork saying I have staples from gastric bypass surgery, to pass through airport security, metal detectors. (the staples/metal)Will be flying this summer for a two week vacation. — Jennifer C. (posted on February 5, 2002)

No, no, no. The staples are so tiny they won't even show up. I have
traveled several times since my surgery and never had a problem.
Worse-case scenario, you can tell the security people that you have metal
in your body from a prior surgery. I'm sure they won't press you for
details.

The staples are made of titanium and won't set off metal detectors in
airports. I have to pass through a metal detector every day at work, the
same kind used in airports, and the staples don't set it off.

How big do you think the staples will be? (lol) Surgical staples
aren't just used for wls....they use them for all types of surgeries
....and folks are setting airport alarms off. We're talking about tiny,
internal staples.
