Question:
What is the reason for having a vena cava or Greenfield filter before surgery?

I already have a vena cava filter, I have had it for almost 10yrs. Will I have to have a new one inserted or will my surgeon just rely on the one that is already there?    — ChristineB (posted on January 31, 2002)
