I tried grits at about 3 weeks and again at 6 weeks post-op. It didn't feel
good either time. The heavy feeling stayed with me for about 45 minutes. I
decided to leave grits alone. I hate that feeling and grits is the only
food that gave me problems.

I have to confess, I love grits and have eaten them since post op week one
w/no problem however if you really want the taste of grits you might try
cream of wheat. I ate instant cream of wheat the first few days post op, it
is a finer texture than grits but has much the same flavor, make it a
little thinner than usual and it goes down really well. Good luck!

It is amazing how different doctors are with the post op diets.. I was
served grits the first morning after surgery.. There was a little
uncomfortable feeling but it seems to go away within an hour or soo... Good
luck to you....
