I have hyperthyroidism does this mean I won't qualify for gastric bypass?

NO!! You are MORE likely to get the surgery!! You need to go to my profile
and look at the list of co-morbidities that are acceptable. It will help
you lots!! :)

Check the guidelines you must meet for YOUR insurance company. SOME say
you must have morbid "exogenous" (outside causes like
overeating)obesity and some say that you must have "endogenous"
or obesity caused by "organic" reasons (endocrine problems,
genetic disorders etc.) Each one is different. SOME may make no rule about
this whatsoever. Mine said I had to have "exogenous" so if my
weight was related to thyroid or other illnesses, I would NOT have
qualified. If this is the case with your insurance, they may want to try
to treat the thyroid condition FIRST...then consider WLS. Hope this helps!
