Question:
My doctor performs what he calls a variation of the RNY.
Stomach pouch is the same. He does not disconnect (cut) the intestine instead he makes a hole in the intestine and connects it to the pouch. Has anyone heard of such a variation? Is it successful? — Earl Z. (posted on January 19, 2002)

Does he transect? Cut apart the stomach to create the pouch?

When the pouch is created he leaves the pouch and newly created lower
stomach connected but completely cut off from each other.

earl my surgeon does the rny the same exact way. he staples between the
pouch & stomach 8 or 9 rows (i forget which) but then he reinforces the
staples by stitching over them! much less chance for staple line disruption
this way. good luck.

If I were you, I'd find out EXACTLY what this procedure is. It sounds to
me like the old BillrothII procedure that has numerous health problems
connected with it. I hope I'm wrong! But please find out what this is
