Question:
Another Calcium Citrate Question?

I know that I have asked a couple of people privately, but I am still confused. Not about the Carbonate VS. Citrate issue. It is the kind you buy/take. I would really like a chewable form of citrate, but I have looked all over town. For those of you who take chewable Calcium Citrate, what brand do you buy, and where do you buy it? Thank a bunch!!!    — KLandrum (posted on January 17, 2002)

Hey there. Here are some online vendors that sell the chewable Calcium Citrate. Good luck!: http://www.nutripeak.com/Static/Products/calcium_citrate_chewable_wafers_0100851258.html http://www.rgarden.com/calcitchew90.html http://www.davincilabs.com/chewcal.html

Hey thanks for reminding me to take my citrate! As I chew on it, here is the info. It's made by Solaray and is in a white bottle and is titled Calcium Citrate Chewable. No sugar added. Tastes a little chalky but kind of like a sweet tart. A little bigger than a nickel. The nutraceutical corp makes the solaray brand. They are located in Park City, Utah. I bought this from Wild Oats Market (a natural foods chain). Good luck and God Bless!

I am also on this quest so glad you asked the question. I love the Viactiv but don't want to take the chance of depleting my calcium (I am sure I didn't drink enough milk when I was younger, anyway!). I found some Twinlab fruit flavored calcium citrate wafers. They are kind of like big sweet tarts. They are OK but to me they have an aftertaste (I am really picky about that stuff). I also found a bar that is called CalciDelite by Natrol. It tastes GREAT and has 100% of the RDA of calcium as calcium citrate. The only thing you have to be careful of is the sugar--the whole thing has 12g sugar. MOST people can tolerate 6g of sugar at a time, so I would just eat half at a time if that is a problem. It is REALLY TASTY! I bought both of these at the grocery store, but you can also get them on the net. The Twinlab at lots of little vitamin stores and the CalciDelite at www.drugstore.com.<P>I have also seen on www.drugstore.com that Citrical has an effervescent calcium citrate tablet that you dissolve in water. If anyone has tried that, I'd like to know what it tastes like!

Cheri, you asked "I have also seen on www.drugstore.com that Citrical has an effervescent calcium citrate tablet that you dissolve in water. If anyone has tried that, I'd like to know what it tastes like!"<p>I have tried these, and I like them pretty well. They are called <i><b>Citracal Calcium Citrate Liquitabs</b></i>, and they are orange flavored. I find the taste a bit harsh, so I usually dissolve them in half a liter of Strawberry Tangerine Crystal Lite. MMMMMMMmmmmmm! It's a &quot;free&quot; way to get 500 mg of calcium citrate, and sometimes I do this as often as three times a day. Other days, when I don't get enough sunlight to make vitamin D on my own, I take the <b><i>Citracal Calcium Citrate Caplets + D</b></i> that include the vitamin D. Hope this helps! -94 lbs and 76.5 inches at four months! Woo hoo!

Another question about the calcium citrate...I used the liquitab...make me feel very nauseous (tastes just like the magnesium citrate I had to use for my pre-surgery cleansing)...any other "new and improved" suggestions?

I swear by the TWINLAB brand Calcium Citrate Chewable wafers. They taste like sweet tarts and I actually enjoy them when I need something to crunch on. They have Magnesium and AVitamin D, and you take 4 a day to get 1000 MG.'s of Citrate. They are a bit pricey for 60 wafers per bottle, but I have found The Vitamin Shoppe to be the least expensive around, you can order from them online or if you have a store near you even better. Best of luck...
