Question:
Tricare/CHAMPUS paying for Pani?
Has anyone with Tricare Prime or Standard (Champus) had a Pani successfully covered. I know they exclude "tummy tucks" for cosmetic reasons, but I am asking about a panilectoly (sp?) to remove the excess apron after massive weightloss. I would think this would be reconstructive surgery. My hubby is Active Duty Prime Remote, and I am just Tricare Standard, or What is known as the old Champus. I have lost 70 lbs, post RNY, and am thinking I may need that excess skin removed, but I want to know what my chances of insurance covering it are. Anyone out there with Tricare of Champus that has had this paid for please give my your story. Thanks. — KLandrum (posted on December 20, 2001)

Hi, I am Tricare Prime and that was one of the first questions I asked.
They offered me a tummy tuck before my surgery because of the apron I have
from yo-yo dieting. I am not sure with old Champus, but if your hubby is
still Active duty, and on tricare prime than so should you be and with that
said it is a definate yes with prime. Good luck in your journey! ~Angel~
