Question:
I know that Iron should not be taken with Calcium because it

decreases it's absorbtion. But can Iron be taken with B12 or Zinc? Just wondering if any of you post-op people know. If not I'll be calling the nutrionalist and check with her. I space the Iron 3-4 hours away from my Calcium, but didn't know if I should do that for the B12 and Zinc.    — Karen Renee (posted on December 19, 2001)

Iron and calcium should be taken together with no other medications, dairy or caffiene. Perhaps you should take your zinc and B12 in the morning. And remember, calcium is best absorbed if 500 mg. incriments and at night. For instance, take your iron and C in the afternoon and take your calcium at say 5, 8 and 11 (or whatever fits your bedtime schedule)

Iron + C, alone, together for an hour or so. Some iron preparations have zinc in them, and some have B12 in them. BUT some books say not to take any minerals with iron. I just isolate iron + C for an hour, then proceed with everything else, spaced out over the rest of the day & evening.
