Question:
At 6 months post-op can anyone tell me a laxitive that I can take?
I am 6 months post-op but I am experiencing a little constipation. I know we can't take all laxitives but has anyone taken one take is approved for us? If so please tell me what it is? — [Anonymous] (posted on November 23, 2001)

My surgeon had me take Senakot. It's a natural laxitive. You should check
with your surgeon to be sure.

I have taken half an Ex-Lax. 2 is a dose, I will take half of one square,
and the other half 12 hours later if I need it. It has always worked for
me. I would take a small dose, since out "systems" are more
efficent than they used to be. This makes it a gradual loosening of stool,
as opposed to an explosion (hehe). It takes 8-12 hours for me to get an
effect. Good luck! (With so many people constipated, why do the rumors
persist about violent diahreah for all those with WLS? I used to get
"D" pre-op, now I am almost always regular!) I was never told of
a laxative not to take, and this is one I had.

I like milk of magnesia, tastes nasty, works fast. This is what my Doctor
advised me to use.

I am not to sure about laxitives, I can't remember if my doctor told me to
take something or not, But I have found that Nature's Wonder, Papaya Enzyme
is wonderful, It is a natrual Digestant.
