Question:
Is there an independent insurance company that will cover MO patients?

My insurance company through my employer will not cover gastric bypass without a rider; which my company will not buy because of the cost. I called Trigon for VA today to see about independent coverage. They told me they would not cover me because I am eligible for group insurance and because of my weight. Is there an independent insurance company that will cover MO patients? Or do I have to lie about my weight and group insurance? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.    — Carol K. I don't know much about ins, but you might ask them if your primary ins denies, then will they pick up as secondary? It's the hard way to g et there, but I've seen it done.

check your email, i sent you a Virginia laws on what the insurance companies must cover on obesity. take this to your insurance carrier.
