Question:
Always only 1-2 tablespoons
I know I should of asked this question before now, since I am 3 weeks post op, but will I always, for ever and ever amen, only be able to eat 1-2 tablespoons at a time? — [Anonymous] (posted on October 22, 2001)

No....I am 5 months post-op, Lap, RNY... I eat about 1/2 to 3/4 cup at one
sitting. Especially soup or small things...Meat is another story... Alot
harder and small bites are important there.... Just give your new pouch
plenty of time to heal and worry about the amount later...Several months
out! Small now and often...Hope that helps...Lonna Grell Bend Oregon...

That ended for me about a week ago. I can't take 1/2 cup of anything, but
I was shocked to see myself go from a tablespoon to 2-3 times that. I
know, I miss it too.

Your pouch will stretch some. At first you can only hold a
few tablespoons, but you can eventually eat up to a cup full
of food. I am near 4 mos post op and solids I can hold about
1/2 cup, softer things, i.e. yogurt I can eat 8 oz over about 15-20 min,
but liquids such as water and thin soups go thru very easily, up to 8 oz at
a time.

I started at a bite or two and am now eating a single slice of pizza. 3
month anniversary today, down 83 pounds.
